"Why" in Polish.Children are naturally more curious than adults. Curiosity helps to learn. In today's Polish lesson you will learn how to be curious. When I was working in a nursery school, there was not one day that went by without some questioning. I remember sitting down in a room full of curious kids, listening to my story about a lamb and a wolf. As I told the story, every sentence children would throw in a question like "Why didn't the lamb call for some rescue? Why was there one lamb and not two? What happened to the other lambs? Why was the wolf so hungry? Couldn't he have eaten something else?". With children, you get stimulated all the time as they are trying to figure out the world. The same applies to adults trying to learn a new language. Curiosity can be very helpful. Practice your Polish with us every Monday 8 PM

At the beach ...Summer and beaches. It just goes well together, doesn't it? In today's Polish lesson you will learn how to say "I would like". I hope this beach dialogue story will help you improve your Polish. We have a real heatwave over here in Poland especially around July - August time. No need to travel to exotic countries to grab some sunshine. My favorite way of spending my summer days is at the beach. I usually bring a book with me and sunbathe under the sun's rays. Another beach activity that I like to do is playing beach volleyball. This is a fun way to interact with other people who look interested and join in the game. So much fun happens and you never want it to end. Now imagine you are at your work, dreaming away about your beach vacation. Chciałabym pójść na plażę. I'd like to go to the beach. Chciałabym odpocząć. I'd like to rest. Chciałabym pobyć sama. I'd like to be alone. Chciałabym ... I'd like to... You arrive at the beach only to see that it's so crowded. You don't like to feel squished with other people and decide to look for a free space somewhere else. Ale tłok! What a crowd! Nie ma tu miejsca. There is no space here. Muszę poszukać dalej. I need to search further. You have a look around on the beach and see a possible empty spot. Przepraszam. Excuse me. Tak? Yes? Czy tu jest wolne? Is it free here? Tak. Tu jest wolne. Yes. It is free here. Wspaniale! Great! You sit down on a blanket looking out at the water. The girl from earlier invites you to her upcoming party.
Chciałabym ciebie zaprosić na imprezę. I'd like to invite you to a party. Kiedy jest? When is it? Pojutrze. Day after tomorrow. Gdzie będzie impreza? Where will the party be? U mnie w domu. At my house. Przyjdziesz? Will you come? Dziękuję. Pomyślę. Thank you. I'll think about it. |
