Polish pronunciation: Mastering 'Szczecin' and beyond

1. VocabularyFirst, we'll introduce some key vocabulary 

  • Szczecin - a city in Poland.
  • fajny - cool, nice.
  • Nigdy nie byłam - I have never been (female).
  • Nigdy nie byłem - I have never been (male).
  • Gdańsk - another city in Poland.
  • jest - is.
2. TranslationLet's translate the sentences:

  • Szczecin jest fajny? - Is Szczecin cool?
  • Nigdy nie byłam w Szczecinie. - I have never been to Szczecin. (for a female speaker)
  • Nigdy nie byłem w Szczecinie. - I have never been to Szczecin. (for a male speaker)
  • Gdańsk jest fajny. - Gdańsk is cool.
Dialogue 1: Cieszyn and Kraków

Person A: Cieszyn jest fajny? (Is Cieszyn cool?)
Person B: Tak, ale Kraków jest jeszcze fajniejszy. (Yes, but Kraków is even cooler.)

    My name is Luiza. I am a teacher of Polish. I teach Polish in our small family run school in the north of Poland and Online.

    I love running, cyclling and adore anything that comes from Brazil. 

    I like to be creative with my Polish lessons and include a wide variety of activities such as having conversations, playing games, listening to audio clips and watching videos. I am flexible with my lessons and try my best to meet each student’s individual needs.
